HUMAN SIMULATION

For this work performance is used to build a human simulation of systems biology, the engineering approach of modeling complex biological systems on every scale, from the cell to the hemisphere. In this case, the “computer” performing computation consists of human actors working together, following rules and a language system, like an algorithmic theatre. This system of guiding human action is based on rules identified by the Synthetic Systems Biology department at SILS, at the University of Amsterdam in cooperation with the artist, and also inspired by the work of Uri Alon at the Weizmann Institute, Israel.
